Welcome to The Hanlons Bed & Breakfast
We are Antony and Raewyn Hanlon and we welcome you to our comfortable, modern bed and breakfast accommodation in the beautiful Bay of Islands in the far north of New Zealand. Tony spent his childhood in Russell and we are long-term, active and friendly members of the local community with over 15 year's experience in the tourism industry.
The Hanlons is in a spectacular location between the township of Russell and the car ferry from Opua to Okiato (the site of the first capital of New Zealand). Set in four acres of native plants and trees, there are beautiful flower gardens (our roses win prizes!) and extensive woodland paths down to 'our' beach - but it's a steep climb back up for the less nimble!
Whether you are looking for a peaceful retreat from busy lives, a base from which to explore places of interest, an active holiday with access to water-sports and other thrills, or are a family with children who would love the adventure of exploring acres of native bush, gardens, kayaking from the beach, playing on the swing or simply enjoying a quiet conversation with the little fellows inhabiting the enchanting Gnome Grotto, all in perfect safety for parents’ peace of mind, The Hanlon’s is for you.
We have three guest suites which are self-contained from the main house and share a living area and extensive decks. They are available individually as bed and breakfast accommodation or can be block-booked as a self-contained area.
